P R Purushothaman Sir

Born on August 1947 N.K. RAMAKRISHNAN in Kottayam,Aymanam, P R Purushothaman is a decorated Indian athlete, veteran coach and the winner of Suresh Babu Life Time Achievement. As a renowned coach, Purushothaman is famously credited with transforming a crop of athletes into international medal winners for India. P R Purushothaman broke new grounds in Indian athletics when he finished 1st place for eight consecutive years in All India 800 and 1500 (3 years) meters respectively. In a phenomenal career in athletics spanning 15 years, the distinguished athlete won many accolades and received innumerable medals at both national and international level. Following his epoch-making contributions to Indian athletics, Purushothaman made entry into coaching domain by guiding K.M. BeenaMol to winners’ podium in Busan Asian Games held in South Korea. The distinguished trainer reinforced his reputation for bringing out the best in Athletes by helping the likes of K N Binu, Primesh P.S, and Madhurai Saxena to win it big in various international arenas.
In the course of building a career comprising of monumental feats, P R Purushothaman has left a legacy for aspiring athletes to follow. A firm believer in the principles of work ethics and discipline, Purushothaman has transmitted his passion for athletics to all his disciples. Among the host of accolades received by Purushothaman are Best Coach, Cash award from Government of India (2000, 2002) and Best Coach award of Kerala in 2001.
